TEACHER'S GUIDE

Subject: Learning Technologies

Grade Levels: 3rd – 8th

OBJECTIVES

AIM
The aim of this lesson is to help 3rd - 8th grade students with little or no computer experience identify the internal and external parts and functions of a computer system.

RATIONALE
Technology is an integral part of daily life and students need equal and adequate access to
it. The use of technology as a learning tool can make a measurable difference in student achievement, attitudes, and interactions with teachers and other students. Students are more challenged, more engaged, and more independent.

INSTRUCTIONAL PLAN

This lesson should be introduced at the begining of the school year. It is designed to be used as a part of teacher directed lessons in a computer lab. Following the lessons presented to entire classes in the lab, students will be able to complete the activities individually or in small groups. The activities will provide students the opportunity to develop and/or reinforce the skills presented during the lessons. Although students will complete the activities at different paces depending on their level, the teacher should set a reasonable time limit.
