Rationale

This web is a great way to connect with students on their interest level.  Teaching today requires creativity to be utilized as often as possible.  It is important to try to allow students to use a medium they are comfortable with.  If we as educators can work to ensure that assignments are not only meaningful but interesting to the students, we will far exceed our intended lesson.  Students will be more inclined to work on an assignment they enjoy and will learn in the process.

Instructional Plan

This curriculum web is intended to be completed by teachers interested in utilizing additional technology in their classroom while engaging their students in activities that are of interest to them.  I will foster the learning process by encouraging the use of my blog and encouraging the learners to be creative in their uses.

Activity 1 will focus on the general use of blogs.  It would appear that the learners will need to gain some prior knowledge about blogs before utilizing them in their classrooms.  The learners will learn to post a comment to my blog responding to what they learned in Activity 1.

Activity 2 will focus on learning to create a blog.  They will be brainstorming to come up with ideas for their blog to use in their classrooms.  They will need to decide on the focus of their activity for their blog page.

Activity 3 will focus on the teacher creating a blog.  The teachers will explore the use of the settings of their blog in order to customize them for their intended use.

The culminating activity will focus on the teachers applying their knowledge of the blog and  setting up their blog for the purpose they have chosen and apply the correct settings.
